CityTown Capital LLC (“CityTown”) has recently become aware of an increase in fraudulent schemes in which unauthorized third parties (often operating through fake websites, social-media profiles, unsolicited e-mail or social media messages, text messages, telephone calls, or other communication platforms) misrepresent themselves as employees, agents, or affiliates of CityTown. These third parties illegally use the name, likeness, or trademarks of CityTown Capital without authorization to solicit payments or confidential personal information, lure individuals into fraudulent chat groups, or persuade them to download malicious third-party applications designed to facilitate fraud.
This notice is intended to alert current and prospective clients, counterparties, vendors, job applicants, and the general public to these unlawful practices and to emphasize that the actions of these unauthorized persons are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to CityTown in any way. We strongly encourage the public to exercise caution and independently verify the legitimacy of any communication purporting to originate from CityTown or its affiliates.
Warning signs that a communication or website may be fraudulent include: (a) phishing websites designed to mimic the official CityTown website, (b) email addresses that use deceptive variations of CityTown’s domain, (c) fraudulent mobile device apps claiming to be official CityTown software, or (d) time-bound offers that pressure you to send funds or personal information immediately.
When CityTown becomes aware of fraudulent schemes, we may consider taking appropriate action, including, but not limited to, alerting regulatory authorities and working with law enforcement to shut them down. However, CityTown does not undertake any obligation to act on your behalf or to update you regarding any steps taken, and we disclaim all liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage arising from reliance on CityTown to address misuse of its name, trademarks, or brand.
